I am a Scottish ceramic artist working from my studio in the rural Scottish Borders

I principally produce one-off pieces, hand-modelled in earthenware, decorated with underglaze colour and sgraffito technique with transparent glazes.

My practice also includes painted works - decoratively painted furniture, mirrors and cabinets with narrative themes.

I studied ceramics at Edinburgh College of art (1974 -78) and continued with a post-graduate year at Glasgow School of Art (78-79), learning slip-casting techniques.

I am influenced and inspired by folk and outsider art from Europe and the Americas,  particularly Victorian Staffordshire and Mexican ceramics.
